Westcoast Canoe Berg River Challenge 2023

15 paddlers form the LYC took part in the annual Westcoast Canoe Berg River Challenge on the 28th of January. Under very difficult conditions, with strong winds and very bumpy water, the paddlers competed in a 10k single lap, and a 20k double lap event.

Rob Meintjies paddled hard to get first place in the Single Surfski 20k race, and David and Caryn Warmerdam pushed strongly to gain second place in the 20k Surfski Doubles. Many of the paddlers did well just to finish!

Our two “Legends “, Sally Frohlich (10k) and Claude Schravesande (20k) were honoured by the organisers at the Prizegiving.
